A recount at Montevallo City Hall this morning reaffirmed the outcome of last week’s mayoral runoff.

Chamber of Commerce President Ben McCrory defeated former city attorney Steven Sears, 412-403. McCrory lost one vote in the recount.

City election officials Gay McAnally and Junnie Craig conducted the recount with assistance from City Clerk Herman Lehman.

Sears had to pay $1,500 to cover expenses related to the recount. He said he might consider taking further action.

“I’m still looking at the matter,” Sears said this afternoon. “Obviously I’m disappointed the recount didn’t change more than it did.”
