The Eagles dominated Livingston to win homecoming, 49-6.

Despite heavy fog and slippery conditions, Calera found multiple ways to score.

The Eagles started the fireworks with a 1-yard touchdown run by Erik Burrells with 3:21 to go in the first quarter.

Burrells finished the night with a game-high 137 yards on the ground.

A 28-yard pass quickly followed from quarterback Brandon Wells to Walter Smith to put Calera up, 12-0.

The offensive clinic continued in the second quarter when Kendal Cox found the end zone from 8 yards out. A successful 2-point conversion put the game well out of hand for the Cougars, 20-0.

After intermission, the points continued to come for Calera. Wells snuck in from the goal line at 10:03 in the third.

Later touchdowns came from a 26-yard run by Wells and a 6-yard run by Josh Lilly.

A 23-yard field goal by Erick Tinajero capped scoring for Calera late in the fourth.

But the Cougars were still playing for pride and finally found the end zone on 32-yard pass as time expired to spoil the shutout.

Calera dominated the game in every statistical category. The Eagles had 23 first downs, 323 yards rushing and 154 yards passing. That’s compared to 6 first downs, 35 yards rushing and 98 yards passing for Livingston.

Wells was 8-for-14 passing for 132 yards and the two touchdowns.

The Cougars had seven turnovers. Nick Harris and Eugene Rogers grab two interceptions, while Ryan Jones and Chris Majors helped recover two of Livingston’s five fumbles.

The Eagles (5-3, 5-1) travel to Southside for another regional game Friday.
