The railroad crossing on Shelby County Highway 11 will be closed for repairs at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25.

Chelsea Fire Chief Wayne Shirley said CSX Transportation would close the tracks until midday on Sunday. He said he doesn’t know the exact time the crossing will re-open.

There will be no detour on the highway.

Shirley said that although the Chelsea Fire Department has only known about the situation for a few days, the department has worked out an arrangement with the Pelham Fire Department to ensure that all emergency calls will get a response, no matter what side of the tracks they come from.

“We are working with the Pelham Fire Department to make sure nobody will be without service during that time,” Shirley said.
