A steering committee has been established to explore the possibilities of a Boys and Girls Club chapter in Montevallo.

A public hearing will be held Monday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. at Montevallo High School, said Mayor-elect Ben McCrory.

Representatives from the Boys and Girls Club of Central Alabama will be in attendance.

According to McCrory, the steering committee was formed two months ago to garner community support.

The Boys and Girls Club prides itself as a “postive place for kids,” promoting and enhancing the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.

If all goes well, the Boys and Girls Club will be Montevallo’s first.
