A north Shelby County man has been arrested in connection with a string of car burglaries throughout the summer.

Antonio Juan Felder has been charged with multiple counts of unauthorized breaking and entering into a vehicle and fraudulent use of credit cards, investigator Clay Hammac said Wednesday. Felder is on investigative hold at the Shelby County Jail with additional charges pending.

On Tuesday, Felder confessed to stealing electronic items and credit cards from several unlocked cars in north Shelby County. A search warrant was issued for Felder’s apartment, where investigators retrieved approximately $8,000 worth of stolen items and fraudulent purchases, Hammac said.

Retrieved items include iPods, global positioning systems, restaurant gift cards, a laptop computer and a 40-inch flat screen television.

Investigators plan to contact victims who filed burglary reports. Hammac said the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office will work with the Hoover Police Department on the case, citing some of the burglaries occurred in Hoover’s jurisdiction.
