An investment he just won’t understand

Sometimes the best outfits start from the bottom up.

No, not the bottom you squeeze into your jeans each morning. I am talking about your shoes! I searched Shelby County for some great winter kicks at wallet-friendly prices. No need to break the piggy bank.

The Wright Shoe off 119 in Alabaster may have moved locations, but they still have some great finds. Among their fall Yellow Box shipment, I found a great pair of BCBGirls raisin-colored, penny-loafer pumps. Priced at $68, these shoes are likely to get some wear this season paired with a great suit or slacks. Wear them with a black sweater dress and loud necklace to have a staple outfit for the season. While you are in the store, check out their great children’s shoe selection as well.

Just down the street from The Wright Shoe is Consigned Design owned by Wendy Bailey. This store is a treasure for Shelby County and a great place to find gently-worn shoes. Since this fall season will see a repeat of many of the styles of last year, now is a great time to recycle something old into something new. I found two great pairs among the large selection including a pair of Chinese Laundry flat black boots and silver Aldo flats. Both of these are a steal at $20 since they retail for well over $50.

The last stop on my shoe-shopping spree was The Shoe Box in Pelham on Highway 31. This gem of store is worth stopping in no matter where you live. This store has some of the best shoe prices you can find in Alabama, let alone Shelby County. Among the great fall picks were Jessica Simpson buckle boots for $65, J Renee’ patterned boots for $44, Steve Madden two–tone black heels $30, Steve Madden black bow heels $30, Hale Bob floral pumps $41, and Kenneth Cole red pumps for $45. All of these retail at department stores for twice their listed price at The Shoe Box. In fact, if you bring in this article, you can even receive 15 percent off all boots in the store. What more of a reason do you need to go shoe shopping?

So, pick up a few pairs this weekend and grab a pizza to appease the honey while you sneak in all those shoeboxes. After all, these are an investment, and men just wouldn’t understand.
