Pelham outfielder signs with UAB

Pelham outfielder Hailey Glynn is one of four players in the state that signed early Thursday to play softball at UAB.

Glynn helped lead Pelham to its first State Tournament in years last may and earned a spot on the 2008 AHSAA North/South All-Star Team. She was also a member of the Reporter’s All-County Team. During the summer she played for the Alabama Gold. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and the National Spanish Honor Society.

Joining Glynn at UAB are Kate Armstrong, an infielder from Vestavia Hills High School; Alyssa Brown, a catcher/infielder from Alexandria High School and Lauren Webster, a pitcher from Alabama Christian

Academy.

“The 2009 recruiting class is one that I am extremely excited about,”said UAB head coach Marla Townsend. “These ladies know what it takes to win and they are willing to work hard at UAB to continue their tradition of winning. This class is well-rounded.
