Christine Vickery

Christine “Grandma” Tyree Vickery, age 79, of Maylene began her celebration of eternal life on Saturday, November 22, 2008.
Many may remember her from the many years she worked in the cafeteria at Thompson High School, and she ultimately retired from Shelby Memorial Hospital in Alabaster. She attended Kingwood Assembly of God.
Christine was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Mandy Mallard Tyree; a brother, Gene of Winfield; a sister, Jewel Dean Spiller (Virgil); a husband, Clyde (Buck) Vickery; and a grandson, Kevin Vickery.
Survivors include Christine’s children, Tony Vickery (Debbie), Brenda Kirby (Don), Mike Vickery (Vickie), and Randy Vickery (Kathy); grandchildren, Christy Feenker (Butch), Angie Lucas, Mark Lucas (Angie), Stacey Carroll (Chad), and David and Clay Vickery; eight great-grandchildren; and special nieces, Sue Stickles, Toni Dady, Pat Varner, and Roxanne Swindle.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2008 at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 in the funeral home’s chapel. Dr. Ron Cox will officiate. Burial will follow in Ryan’s Cemetery in Maylene with pallbearers Landon Vickery, Mark Lucas, Randy Vickery, David Vickery, Clay Vickery, and family friend Danny DeShazo.
