Funeral service for Harold Davenport was held Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008 at 1st Baptist Church of Alabaster at 2 p.m.
Visitation was held Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. at Charter Funeral Home.
Mr. Davenport passed away on Nov. 20, 2008.
He was a charter member of 1st Baptist Church of Alabaster.
He was mayor of Alabaster from 1972-1980, Shelby County Commissioner from 1980-1988.
He was a member of Calera National Guard for five years, a Master mason at Corinthian lodge No. 462 F&A&M Alabaster, associate member of FOP-Shelby County Lodge No. 41.
He graduated from Thompson High School in 1956, attended Auburn University and graduated from LaSalle University.
He was a long time employee of Allied Lime Company and was a supervisor of Siluria Textile Mills.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walton S. and Helen Virginia Wooten Davenport; brothers, Walton Davenport and Richard Davenport; sister, Fay Ross and grandson, Brock Davenport.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sarah Northcutt Davenport; sons, Steve Davenport and Bret Davenport (Paula Lutz); daughter, Felicia Foster; brothers, Jim “Peanut” Davenport (Betty Amos), Leonard Davenport (Gayle Lemanice) and Larry Wayne Davenport; sisters, Dorothy Porter, Patricia Bolin (Charles) and Reba Henson (Troy); grandchildren, Tara, Heath, Haley and Houston Davenport and Olivia Foster; great-grandchildren, Brinley Davenport and Jonah Brock Davenport; sisters-in-law, Roxann Davenport and Linda Davenport; brother-in-law, Tim Ross and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
