Two local talents, Andy Davis of Samford University and Adam Mims of Furman University, were named to the All-Southern Conference football second team Wednesday.

Davis, who prepped at Briarwood Christian School, was selected as a second team defensive back after finishing fourth on the Bulldogs’ team with 45 tackles. He was also third on the team in interceptions with two, both of which came at key moments to lead Samford past Georgia Southern.

Mims, a sophomore formerly of Spain Park, was named to the second team as both a wide receiver and kick returner. He was the Paladins’ leading receiver with 711 yards and three touchdowns. He also averaged 19.4 yards per kickoff return and 10 yards per punt return.
