Dudley Pendleton

Dudley Digges Pendleton, age 75, passed away on Friday, Dec. 12 2008 at his home in Montevallo.
He was a Korean War veteran and retired form BellSouth in 1989 after 38 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Emily Vest Pendleton; daughters, Pam Smith (Eddi) of Athens, Debbie Pendleton (Jim Gatling) of Montgomery; like-a-son, David Lash of Montevallo; brother, Bill Pendleton of Montevallo; a number of nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companion of 14 years, Pedro.
Dudley was active in civic affairs and served for 50 years as a volunteer member of the Montevallo Fire and Rescue Department and for 25 years on the Montevallo Water and Sewer Board.
He was also a member Civitan International and the Telephone Pioneers.
He was noted for his ever-present cigar, his willingness to help others, his humor and his annual Christmas harmonica playing.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 15, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Montevallo Cemetery.
Visitation was held Sunday evening from 5-8 at Rockco Funeral Home in Montevallo. The Rev. Bill Brown, the Rev. Buddy Freeman and the Rev. Jim Clifford officiated.
