Dr. Thomas Slaughter II

Dr. Thomas S. Slaughter II was born June 7, 1926 and passed away at the Bill Nichols V. A. nursing home on Dec. 13, 2008.
Originally from Texas, Dr. Slaughter made Shelby County his home and for 40 years practiced chiropractics in Calera.
Dr. Slaughter is survived by his wife, Sarah King Slaughter; his seven children, Tami Slaughter Jones, Kenya Slaughter Walker, Thomas S. Slaughter III, Claude Garrett Slaughter, Karen Karmel Slaughter, Glenn Ettice Slaughter Wilson, John Mack Slaughter, his 18 grandchildren and one great–grandchild.
Visitation was held Wednesday, Dec. 17 from 6-8 p.m.
Services were held at Charter Funeral Home on Thursday, Dec. 18 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to the Calera Park and recreation board.

Arrangements were under the direction of Charter Funeral Home.
