Funeral service for Sara Inez Smitherman, age 86, of Montevallo were held Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Randolph.
Burial followed at Shady Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Stanley Dawson officiated.
Visitation was Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at Rockco Funeral Home in Montevallo and from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
Smitherman, who passed away on Dec. 20, 2008 at her residence, was a member for 60 years at Shady Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by daughters, Janice (Jimmy) McGee of Wilton and Donna (Ricky) Falkner of Alabaster; son, Kenneth (Darlene) Smitherman of Montevallo; sister, Ila May Smitherman of McCalla, Ala.; brother, Glenn (Gertha) Scott of Randolph, Ala.; grandchildren, Lisa (Richard) Brown, Lynette (Ben) Peete, Pam Smitherman and Patrick Falkner, all of Alabaster and great-grandchildren, Rebecca Brown, Logan Brown, Neal Peete, Sara Peete and Jessica Peete.
