Wrestling recap: Shelby Co. splits tri-match

A forfeit at 215 pounds by Pelham, helped give Shelby County an edge to beat the Panthers, 34-33, Thursday night.

Josh Reid was credited with the win, one of six by the Wildcats in the match.

Chase Weeks, Chris Danner, Matt Pitts and Chris Tortorici each collected pins, while Jon Walden collected the other decision.

The night started with a loss to Moody, 48-21. Ethan Lann and Weeks both collected pins to help earn points for the Wildcats, while Corey Beane, Danner and Walden each won by decision.

-OAK MTN. 58, CLAY-CHALKVILLE 21: Oak Mountain posted a nine weight class win streak in the middle of its lineup to down Clay-Chalkville. Four of those wins were by forfeit, including at 171 for top-ranked John Blakely. Tanner Moon, Evan Webb, Jared Woodall, Josh Greer and Patrick Markus each won by pin. Other wins by forfeit were Micahel Bell, Jared Wood and Justin Woodall.

-OAK MTN. 38, MTN. BROOK 34: Oak Mountain started the week with a sweep at the Shelby County Duals and continued with a win over Mountain Brook on Wednesday. Tanner Moon, Jared Woodall, Josh Greer and Chris Stubbings each won by pin. John Blakely took down Mountain Brook’s Gardner Blount, 20-5. Justin Woodall beat Sam Gray, 12-11.

-VESTAVIA 61, SPAIN PARK 13: Tommy Bostany pinned Dylan Kabase in 3:43 for one of three Spain Park wins Wednesday. His older brother Goffrey beat Philip Cato, 4-3. The other win came from Bo Bishop, 17-7, over Zac McIntyre.
