Twenty-seven wrestlers qualify for state

Six county schools qualified wrestlers for this week’s AHSAA Wrestling State Tournament after finishing in the top four at sectionals. Oak Mountain qualified the most among county teams with nine, including Class 6A, Section 3 MVP John Blakely.

The tournament is Feb. 5-7 at the Von Braun Civic Center in Huntsville.

Qualifers are listed by school with weight class in parenthesis:

CHELSEA — Curtis Crooks (130), DJ Knight (152), Thomas Blottin (189), DJ Hill (285).

PELHAM — Zach Freeze (103), Logan Huey (112), Taylor Anchors (135), Hudson Pitts (152), Corey Gentry (160), Matt Pettibone (171), Matt Davis (285).

OAK MTN. — Tanner Moon (112), Henry Bedgood (119), Jared Woodall (145), Davis Bagwell (152), Justin Woodall (160), John Blakely (171), Josh Greer (189), Chris Stubbings (215), Whit Whitfield (285).

SHELBY COUNTY — Jon Walden (152), Ethan Lann (171), Josh Reid (189).
