Vince Elliot has been named the new head football coach at Kingwood Christian School, replacing 10-year head coach Jerry Stearns.

“Vince is a strong leader with much experience in business management,” said Kingwood Pastor Benny Cunningham in a statement. “(Elliot’s) goal at KCS, in his words is ‘to further develop (Kingwood’s) program, not just a team.'”

Elliot is a graduate of Pinson High School. He played football for four years at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and also served as a graduate assistant there.

Elliot is married to Heather, a teacher at KCS, and the two have a daughter, Kaitlyn.

Elliot’s predecessor, Stearns, was relieved of his girls’ basketball head coaching duties in the fall, and he will no longer be in charge of Kingwood boys’ athletics next year.

“Coach Stearns has been very important to KCS athletics for several years. We will be forever indebted to him for his expertise and leadership,” Cunningham said.
