Bain-Moore in Classic this weekend

Alabaster resident Kim Bain-Moore has come a long way from her bass fishing video game-playing days in Australia. The 28-year-old Aussie will become the first woman to ever compete in the Bassmaster Classic when her boat hits the waters of Louisiana’s Red River Friday.

Her first bass fishing experience really began playing “Basstour” in the early ’90s. Now she is the top woman in the sport, winning the Toyota Tundra Women’s Bassmaster Tour Angler of the Year competition in the fall.

“I’m sure you can see the wry irony when people say, ‘Get kids off computers and into fishing and the outdoors.’ For me they complemented each other,” Bain-Moore wrote on her blog.

Now she puts her name in history as she tries to win the “Super Bowl of bass fishing.”

She’s enjoying the moment with her parents, who are with her in Shreveport this week.
