America’s First Federal Credit Union has donated one bulletproof vest each to the Helena and Pelham police departments.

The vests were presented at the cities’ respective chamber of commerce luncheons in January.

“It is great to know that there are still businesses, in our area, that recognize the critical needs of local law enforcement,” said Helena Police Chief Tim Carter. “America’s First has long been one of those that we can count on to provide the support we need, when we need it.”

America’s First plans to donate 12 more vests this year in an effort to help police departments provide essential equipment in the midst of budget cuts.
