A Spain Park student-athlete and a Spain Park coach recently won the Finley Award, one of the Hoover school system’s most prestigious awards.

Spain Park senior golfer, Gabe Hyde, won the award for Spain Park High School, while Spain Park coach Brian Moon won the employee award.

The Finley Award is given annually to a graduating senior at each of Hoover’s high schools and one employee from the school system. The award is named for longtime Berry High School Coach Bob Finley, who exhibited great honesty and character during his career.

Hyde has signed a scholarship to play golf at Samford University.

This year’s Finley Awards Banquet will be March 12 at the Cahaba Grand Conference Center.
