Constant rainfall across Central Alabama postponed outdoor sporting events Friday, including the baseball Metro Tournament semifinals at Spain Park High School.

Thompson High School was set to play Vestavia today, followed by Spain Park vs. Hoover at Spain Park. Games will be moved to Saturday, Feb. 28. Thompson’s game will be played at 11 a.m., followed by Spain Park vs. Hoover at 1:30 p.m. and then the championship game at 4 p.m.

Other high school baseball, softball and soccer games were postponed or canceled.

Also postponed Friday, was the University of Montevallo baseball game against Bluefield State University originally scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday. The game will be played Sunday, Feb. 29 at 10 a.m.

Saturday’s season-opening track event at Heardmont Park, the Oak Mountain Ice Breaker Invitational is still scheduled to take place, but start time has been delayed one hour.
