Briarwood Christian swept the second outdoor track meet of the season for Shelby County middle schools Tuesday. The race was at Pelham High School.

The Briarwood boys’ had five first-place individual finishers, while the girls’ had only two. Briarwood’s girls beat Helena Middle, 106-79, mainly off of five second-place finishes and two third-place spots. Ellie Willoughby won the high jump and Deora Simon own the discus throw for the Lions.

Briarwood’s strength for the boys was in the field events, as Justin Palmer won the high jump, Will Byers took first in long jump and Jake Proctor claimed top spot in the triple jump.

Other first-place finishers for Briarwood were Garrett Graham, Conner Lee, Dylan Harrington and Byers on the 4×100 relay team and Ramsay Ritchie in the mile.
