For those of you who find yourself having a hard time picking out an outfit every morning, lucky for you nearby Renaissance Consignment offers Retail Therapists to help you with your dilemma.

“We offer six wonderfully talented women with God-given talents to act as a customer service to our clients,” said owner Kathy McMahon.

The retail therapist visits the shopper’s home and conducts a closet analysis. They even help clients ‘shop’ their own closets by giving suggestions on new outfit combinations and explaining the elements of mixing and matching. Therapists determine which items need to be donated and serve as a fresh pair of eyes to revamp tired closets.

The therapy continues in-store where therapists guide clients in coordinating new outfits and selecting the right accessories. If what their client is looking for is not in stock, Renaissance offers a “wish list” where customers can specify the item they are searching for. When a similar item comes in, Renaissance will call and allow their wish list members first pick!

The craze of their retail therapy service has been spreading fast by word of mouth. Customers who use the service return over and over for help buying new items for the season. Renaissance Consignment has been offering this new form of therapy since they opened in September of last year. Their clientele ranges from teens shopping for jeans and prom to young professionals, empty nesters and grandmothers.

“It is fun to see people of all ages and backgrounds have fun with the hunt,” McMahon said.

After being in the home consignment business, McMahon opened this store with the goal of becoming the most unique shopping experience in Alabama. She attributes her success to hiring the best help in town.

“My manager Linda Noel, who worked with me from the first day of planning to the birth of Renaissance, helped me to take a plain vanilla box of a store and create a New York loft feel,” McMahon said.

With its spiraling staircase leading to the loft overhead and creative décor pieces constructed from trash, the venue is an amazing sight to see. Featuring box brands like White House Black Market, Banana Republic, Chico’s and Bebe, as well as designer duds from Nanette Lepore, Betsey Johnson, Louis Vuitton and Trina Turk, shoppers can find prices ranging from $10 for a simple knit top to $240 for brands like Jimmy Choo, Prada and St. John.

Renaissance Consignment also features a Girls’ Night Out each month with everything from Bunco night to playing dress up, guest speakers to season fashion previews. This month, Renaissance will host a wine tasting on March 26 to treat shoppers.

And if you can’t make it to the store for your shopping needs, they have newly introduced an online store. The feature not only brings in merchandise from clients everywhere, but allows consigners to offer their designer goods to shoppers worldwide.

So, grab a glass of wine and your retail therapist to make the most of your next shopping experience. Visit Renaissance Consignment for a shopping trip like none other.

Now, if they could just offer a spa treatment with that retail therapy, I would be set!
