Shelby County celebrates St. Patrick’s Day

Any Shelby County leprechaun looking for a pint of Guinness and a bit of corned beef can find it March17 at restaurants like Hogans on Highway 280 and Uncle Monk’s in Chelsea.

“That’s our biggest day of the year because, of course, we’re Hogan’s Irish Pub,” said manager Angela Smith. “We have to do something big.”

Hogans plans to offer a free buffet of corned beef and cabbage, as well as shepherd’s pie beginning at 6 p.m. The pub also plans to have a variety of specials on beer like Killian’s and Guinness.

The bagpipers are set to play at 7 p.m., with a live band playing at 8 p.m.

Down the road in Chelsea, Uncle Monk’s plans to have corned beef and cabbage on the menu and a bagpiper playing that night. They will also offer happy hour prices all day.
