Funeral service for Bernice Higgins, age 72, of Douglas was at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at Bolton-Letlow Chapel with the Rev. Earl Harper and the Rev. Tom Minor officiating. Burial followed in Spring Creek Cemetery.
Visitation was Monday from 6–8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Higgins passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2009, at her sister’s home.
She was born on April 9, 1936 in Shelby.
She was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church in Locust Fork.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Morris Higgins, and daughter, Felicia Blackwood.
Mrs. Higgins is survived by her son, Freddie Higgins; granddaughter, Fallon (Glen) Blackwood; two sisters, Debbie (Charles) Wood and Barbara (Mike) Sammons; an uncle, Johnny Jones; two aunts, Lenora Vanderslice and Lois Jones; nephews, Douglas Eason Merrell and Keith Lowery, Jr.; nieces, Wendy Martin, Suzzette Siniard, Kristy Pearce, Delores Cohran, Nila Voyles, Carolyn Menendez and Beverly Higgins; nine grand-nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home is directing.
