A judge has again ruled in favor of Montevallo Mayor Ben McCrory in an election challenge filed by his opponent, former city attorney Steven Sears.

McCrory defeated Sears, 412-403, in the city’s mayoral runoff last October. Sears contends McCrory violated the state’s Fair Campaign Practices Act by not properly filing campaign disclosure forms on time.

McCrory has admitted to some filing mistakes, but said none were significant enough to cost him his seat.

Circuit Judge Robert M. Harper first ruled in McCrory’s favor on Jan. 21. Harper denied a request last week to overturn the decision.

Attempts to reach Sears were not successful.
