Weather service confirms Thursday tornado

A weak tornado touched down Thursday morning in Alabaster, according to the National Weather Service.

The twister snapped and uprooted numerous trees, resulting in damaged to three homes. No injuries were reported

The EF-0 tornado formed at 4:50 a.m. near the intersection of Kent Dairy Road and County Road 17 in Maylene.

The storm continued moving to the northeast, crossing Interstate 65 near Exit 238. The last known damaged occurred along U.S. 31 near Interstate Drive.

The tornado packed peak winds of 75 miles per hour and stayed on the ground for about 3.75 miles. Its path was about 35 yards wide.
