Funeral service for Imogene Blankenship, 85, of Alabaster, was held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2009, at Camp Branch UMC. Burial followed at Nabors Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2009, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Blankenship, who passed away Friday, April 3, 2009, at her home, was born Sept. 9, 1923, in Shelby County.
She was a lifetime member of Camp Branch UMC, member of United Methodist Women’s Group at Camp Branch UMC and a Shelby County Board of Education bus driver for 11 years.
She is preceded in death by her son, Tommy Blankenship.
She is survived by her husband, Floyd Blankenship; children, Gary Blankenship, Stanley (Jan) Blankenship, Randy (Terry) Blankenship and Tanya (Bob) Gunter; daughter-in-law, Debbie Blankenship; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Fletcher Payne; and a host of family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Methodist Children’s Home or The American Cancer Society.
