Bill “Handsome Bill” Holcombe of Lonesome Dove in Alabaster died Sunday, April 12, 2009, in Alabaster.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 15, at 11 a.m. at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel in Montevallo.
Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Maylene.
The Rev. Joe Raines will preside.
Visitation was Tuesday, April 14 from 6-8 p.m.
Holcombe lost his battle to cancer on April 12 at the age of 71.
Handsome Bill, as he was known, offered tours of his Western town, Lonesome Dove, to senior groups, nursing homes and handicapped children.
He showcased his many talents along with Lonesome Dove mascot Miss Buddie.
Survivors include Cindy Holcombe, Alabaster; Billy Jack “Muley” (Terri) Holcombe, Alabaster; and sisters, Linda (Lawrence) Barnett of Alabaster; grandchildren, Tabithia and Dillion Holcombe, Tiffany and Jessica Smith; nieces and nephews, Valerie and Mike Springer and Mark and Sharee Barnett.
Father and mother, J.D. and Cora Holcombe, and daughter, Wendy Holcombe, preceded him in death
