Three candidates have been chosen to interview to become the next member of the Hoover School Board.

They are Ronald Braswell, associate professor in the UAB Department of Ophthalmology; Paulette Pearson, a consultant and former college admissions counselor with the Hoover School System; and D. Wayne Rogers Jr., managing attorney for the law firm of Rogers and Associates.

The Hoover City Council will conduct final interviews with the three candidates in an education committee special meeting April 20 at 5 p.m. The interviews, which will be conducted in alphabetical order, will be held in the council chambers and are open to the public.

The council is expected to name the new Board of Education member at the 6 p.m. regular City Council meeting directly following the special meeting.

The final three were chosen from sixteen candidates who went through preliminary interviews to replace Board President Suzy Baker.

Baker didn’t reapply for her seat, which will become available at the end of May.
