Pelham collects 14 hits against Jags

Pelham got revenge for an early season 1-0 loss to Spain Park, beating the Jags, 9-1, Wednesday.

The Panthers (23-13-1) collected 14 hits, including four each by outfielder Hailey Glynn and Sarah Casey. Jamie Wallace drove in three RBIs and had two hits.

Emily Spain picked up the win for the Panthers, allowing one run off five hits in the complete game.

-BRIARWOOD 3, CHELSEA 2: Briarwood put up a three-spot in the third inning to beat Chelsea in an area game. Madeline Lamon (9-2) allowed only one earned run off five hits, while battling Chelsea pitcher Caitlin Bice. Bice allowed two earned runs off five hits and three walks. She struck out 12 in six innings. The Lions were led offensively with two hits each from Caroline Seay and Morgan Reed.

-OAK MTN. 9, PELHAM 2: Chandler Hoffman recorded three goals and assisted another to help lead Oak Mountain past Pelham. Michael Thrasher scored two. Daniel Wolfe, Zach Rodivich, Thomas Holloway and Mason Lavallet each scored. Trey Anderson had four saves in goal for the Eagles. Evan Deloach and Kevin Rose each scored a goal for Pelham. Oak Mountain, who moved up to No. 12 in the nation this week, will play John Carroll in the Metro Tournament final at home Friday night.

BASEBALL

-BRIARWOOD 11, RAMSEY 0: Trey Nichols picked up his first win of the season for the Briarwood Lions, pitching a five-inning complete games shutout to down Ramsey in the final regular season game. Nichols allowed two hits. Jonathan Logan led the Lions with a home run and three runs scored, while going 3-for-3. Briarwood (22-5) will host Sylacauga in the first round of the Class 5A baseball playoffs Friday.

-INDIAN SPRINGS 14, TARRANT 0: Indian Springs closed the season with a lopsided shutout of Tarrant, as Phillip Ward struck out 11 and allowed three hits. Ward also had three hits and four RBIs. Stewart Little had two doubles and two RBIs, while Will Smith had a double and a triple and two RBIs.
