A 43-year-old Sylacauga man died Monday morning at the Shelby County Work Release Center in Columbiana.

Bill Hosey Jr. was found dead at approximately 5:30 a.m., according to Shelby County Coroner Diana Hawkins.

Authorities aren’t sure how Hosey died, but no foul play is believed to have been involved.

Hosey was on several medication when he died, Columbiana Police Chief Lamar Vick said.

Hosey’s body has been taken to Montgomery for an autopsy. Preliminary results should be available later this week.

Hosey was booked in the Shelby County Jail on March 20 for public intoxication and failure to appear in court charges. He was released April 14.

It isn’t clear at this time why Hosey was in the work release center.

David Horn, executive director of Shelby County Community Corrections, couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.
