Calera police capture man wanted for attempted murder in Va.

A man wanted by Virginia State Police on attempted murder charges was arrested this morning in Calera.

Virginia authorities were searching for Emilio Rubio-Gonzalez and his brother, Leon Rubio-Gonzalez, after three tractor trailers were shot at on Interstate 77 in southwest Virginia on April 16.

According to a news release from Calera police, the department received information that the brothers were staying at the Day’s Inn on Highway 25. Around 8 a.m. Tuesday, the two men left the hotel and proceeded to drive northbound on Interstate 65, where they were stopped by Calera police and Shelby County sheriff’s deputies.

U.S. Marshals took Emilio Rubio-Gonzalez into custody, but Leon Rubio-Gonzalez remains at large. Local authorities aren’t sure of his whereabouts.
