Spain Park golfer Conner Pratt enters this week’s Alabama State Amateur golf tournament at Greystone as a winner.

Pratt, a rising senior for the Jaguars, won the Alabama Junior Golf Association tournament at Steelwood, outside Mobile, June 4. The win was his first of the summer, as he says his game has steadily improved since helping Spain Park win a high school state championship in May.

“Every aspect of my game right now is the best it’s been in a while,” Pratt said. “I’m trying to keep the same swing flowing through the month of June.”

Pratt was the only golfer at Steelwood last week to shoot in the 60s two of the three rounds, shooting 67, 68 and 73 over three days to win the tournament 208-212 over Landon Lyons of Baton Rouge, La. The closest Alabama finisher was Mountain Brook’s Tom Lovelady at 213.

Pratt will look to win two in-a-row as he competes against current and former teammates this week, as the State Amateur will be played Thursday to Sunday at his home course, the Greystone Country Club Founders Course.
