Auburn fans shouldn’t hold their breath for Oak Mountain tight end Davis Dudchock. The son of former Auburn defensive lineman Alex Dudchock said Thursday he is most likely going out of state.

“I’d say it’s a 90 percent chance,” said Dudchock, who had just returned from a camp at Clemson University. “That’s based out of schools that are recruiting me.”

Four of those schools, in no particular order, are high on Dudchock’s list: Stanford, Vanderbilt, Clemson and Florida State. All but Clemson have made Dudchock athletic scholarship offers so far.

“I’d love to get an offer from Clemson. I went up there (Wednesday) and had a good camp,” Dudchock said.

Dudchock said there is still a long summer ahead before making a decision, but he is leaning toward playing out of state. He would not comment if there was any one reason Auburn, Troy or UAB are not high on his list. Each have extended an offer, as well as Southern Mississippi.

“It’s one of those things that you have a certain gut feeling when you go to a school,” he said.

Dudchock is one of two Shelby County athletes named on the ESPN 150 Watch List, alongside Pelham linebacker Nigel Terrell.

“(The list) means a lot. I’ve put in a lot of hard work, and it’s always fun when whatever recruiting service it is ranks you high and recognizes what you’ve done,” Dudchock said.

ESPN’s report calls him a “nice sleeper among the 2010 tight ends.” Standing at 6-foot-4, 218 pounds, Dudchock is both a blocking tight end and a receiver.
