Blake West of Montgomery became the second golfer in this year’s State Amateur Championship to shoot in the 60s, finishing Saturday’s round with a 69 and taking over the lead three strokes.

West, a junior on the UAB golf team, went three under par on the front nine at Greystone’s Founders Course and maintained the score through the back nine to move to five-under for the tournament. His twin brother, Adam, shot 70 to move to even par, and is tied for fourth overall with a three-round score of 216.

Friday’s leader, Hunter Hamrick of Montgomery, shot four-over-par Saturday to move into third place at 215 on the week. Hamrick shot 67 Friday for the best round of the tournament so far.

Daniel Glidewell of Opelika led after the first round at two-under-par. He sits one-over entering the final round.

Saturday’s round was delayed until 2:35 p.m. because of heavy rain in the area. Sunday’s final round will begin at 9:20 a.m. Blake West will tee off on hole No. 10 at 10:10 a.m., while his brother, Adam, tees off at the same time on No. 1. Hamrick will follow Adam West on No. 1 at 10:20 a.m., along with Kaylor Timmons of Fort Payne, who sits in second place.
