Funeral service for James Wayne Spradlin, age 62, of Pell City, Ala., was held Saturday, June 13, 2009, at 10 a.m. The Rev. Mike Widmon officiated. Burial followed in Cooks Spring Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday, June 12, 2009, at 4 p.m. at Prescott Holiness Church. Pallbearers were Jeremy Andrews, Chris Andrews, Bryan Smith, Ryan Smith, David Davis and Charles “Bubby” Partridge. Honorary pallbearers were Edker Andrews, James Hadaway, Joey Isbell and all of the nieces and nephews he loved so much.
Spradlin, who passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at his residence was a loved son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He loved to spend his time working on his cars and racing at the dirt track. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Sarah Spradlin.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Spradlin; daughter, Kelly (John) Porter of West Blocton; sons, Ferrell Spradlin of Pell City, Jason (Linda) Guy of Moody, Jerry (Teresa) Guy of Pell City, Derrick Goodwin, Gene Guy, Jeff Guy of Vandiver; sisters, Fay Grimes of Westover, Sue Hannah of Vandiver, Bessie Kromer of Westover, Charlotte (Jerry) Howard of Sterrett, Danette (Tony) Buse of Westover; brother, Wade (Joy) Spradlin of Vandiver; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
