Four men have been arrested in connection with a methamphetamine lab located in a residence in the 90 block of Oak Hill Drive in Chelsea.

On June 17, the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force received information about a possible meth lab at the residence. Investigators determined there was a functional meth lab, and arrested four men at the scene: William Marshall Beason, 40; Kevin Wayne Hill, 30; John Richard Scoggins, 40; Claude Adell Hodgens, 50.

Beason and Hill are each charged with one count apiece of manufacturing a controlled substance in the first degree and trafficking in a controlled substance. They are each being held at the Shelby County Jail on total bonds of $200,000.

Scoggins is charged with manufacturing a controlled substance in the first degree, trafficking in a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana in the second degree. He is being held at the Shelby County Jail on a total bond of $201,000.

Hodgens is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana in the second degree and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held at the Shelby County Jail on a bond of $2,000.

Chelsea, Alabaster and Pelham fire departments responded to the scene to assist with decontamination procedures. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration assisted with clean-up of hazardous materials and took custody of all such materials.

The Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force is made up of police officers and deputies from the Alabaster Police Department, Pelham Police Department, Helena Police Department, Harpersville Police Department and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
