Funeral service for Jeremy Wayne McDonald, age 29, of Jemison, will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Fountain of Life Church of God in Calera. The Rev. Carey Waldrop will officiate. Burial will follow in Rock Springs Cemetery in Calera.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 22, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at Rocko Funeral Home Chapel in Montevallo. He will lie-in-state one hour prior to service.
McDonald, who passed away Friday, June 19, 2009, in Thorsby, was a Naval Construction mechanic with Seabees 3rd Class Petty Office. He was also a member of Fountain of Life Church of God in Calera.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Sara Broadhead, and his grandparents, Jimmy and Pat Cannady.
He is survived by his special friend, Shannon Meadows of Odenville; awaiting daughter, Kristen Marie McDonald; mother Rebecca McDonald (Reggie Bowen) of Jemison; father, Jimmy Wayne McDonald (Glenda Saffold) of Jemison; sister, Mary Beth Jones (Jason) Cox of Shelby; Shanda Bowen, who was like a sister; Todd Bowen, who was like a brother; grandparents, Herbert (Kay) Broadhead of Calera and Betty McDonald of Columbiana; aunt, Leigh Holcombe; uncles, Alan (Kathy) Broadhead and Jeff Cannady; nephews, Tyler Jones, Jordan McDonald and Keaton Sullivan; and his niece, Halle Sullivan.
