I recently rescued a kitten from behind one of my neighbors’ houses. The vet estimated the kitten to be around five months, and she was already pregnant. I was given the choice of aborting the kittens or going ahead with the pregnancy.

I chose to let the cat have the kittens and find good homes for them. I did not want her to have any more, so I called the Shelby County Humane Society and signed up for the Quick Fix Program.

The point of all this is that the kitten I found had been abandoned by someone that did not want her anymore. Those kittens would have been born in the wild, and likely would not have made it.

Non-neutered and non-spayed animals go on to produce more unwanted animals. The Humane Society centers are already full of these animals. If you own an animal that you do not plan on breeding, please do this. We don’t need to grow the population of feral animals. It is already big enough.
