No injuries were reported in a fire that destroyed at least three apartment units in the Laurel Cliffs subdivision off Carl Nichols Drive in Pelham on Friday.

The fire broke out about 1:15 p.m. Pelham Police and Pelham Fire and Rescue are still on the scene.

An occupant in the unit where the fire broke out said he believed the fire began in the rear of the unit.

Zac Hardin, who lives in one of the units next to where the fire broke out, said he was at home when he was alerted of the blaze.

“A neighbor just started beating on the door screaming, ‘There’s a fire,'” 22-year-old Hardin said. “By the time I got outside with my stuff, the police car pulled up and a minute and a half later the fire truck got here.”
