One of Shelby County’s most wanted nabbed

One of Shelby County’s most wanted men was arrested in Lafayette, La., Thursday, as members of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshals Regional Task Force in Birmingham worked in conjunction with the Western District of Louisiana’s Fugitive Task Force in Lafayette to apprehend the suspect.

Jack Copeland, 37, was apprehended at approximately 5:30 p.m., and he is wanted in Shelby County on second-degree sodomy and second-degree rape charges.

He is also wanted on outstanding battery and possession of a controlled substance warrants in Bay County, Fla.

Copeland was identified going into his Bell Downs apartment in Lafayette and was arrested without incident.

He was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center and will be extradited to Alabama.
