Thompson High School will be hosting a youth football camp July 24-25, with Warriors head coach Brian Maner and his staff teaching the children football fundamentals and techniques.

The camp will help the youth in learning the game of football, while also giving the high school coaches a chance to work with the future Thompson Warriors.

“Just getting the kids to start a relationship with the high school coaches is important,” Maner said. “It also helps them when they start practice.”

The camp will feature drills on offense, defense and skills positions. There will also be drills intended to enhance the strength, speed and agility of the players.

“As soon as we can get them started, the better. And it’s great for us to build relationships with the youth coaches and the parents.” Maner said. “I enjoy it and our coaches enjoy it too.”

The camp will be Friday 6-8 p.m. and Saturday 9-11 a.m. at the THS football stadium. It is $50 per child, which includes a T-shirt. Registration is open through noon, July 24 at the Parks and Recreation Depot. Walk-up registration will be available July 24, beginning at 5:15 p.m. at the stadium. However, cash will only be accepted during walk-up registration.

Maner has also been offering free football conditioning clinics. There is no signup necessary for the conditioning, which is also held at Thompson’s field.

Maner hopes the free conditioning clinics can also help the youth players by focusing on speed, agility and strength training.
