Fresenius Medical Care Shelby, a dialysis clinic in Alabaster, is the recipient of the 2009 Center of Excellence Award, presented by Fresenius Medical Care North America.

Fresenius Medical Care Shelby was recognized along with Fresenius Medical Care Birmingham Central and Fresenius Medical Care Pell City. All three facilities achieved the highest standards in patient care in 2008.

“Congratulations to the medical directors, nurses and clinical staff at these deserving Centers of Excellence,” said Debbie Hultquist, regional vice president for Fresenius Medical Care. “Their dedication to delivering the highest possible level of care can help our patients be more successful on dialysis so they can live their lives to the fullest.”

Centers of Excellence are awarded based on how the facility performs on multiple objective measures of dialysis clinical quality. The company considers outcome measures such as dialysis adequacy, control of anemia, nutritional status, vascular access, patient satisfaction and transplant education.
