A federal judge on Thursday sentenced a Montevallo woman to five years probation for committing securities and credit card fraud.

Altricia Marie McCurdy, 31, stole and endorsed company checks while working at Shelby Emergency Assistance. McCurdy used the money to pay home mortgage premiums, vehicle loans and Alabama Power Co. payments for herself and others.

McCurdy also used a company credit card from Jan. 10, 2006 to May 22, 2006, and charged personal items at Home Depot, Walmart and other stores.

U.S. District Judge R. David Proctor ordered McCurdy to serve eight months home detention and pay $32,012.16 to Shelby Emergency Assistance and its insurance carrier. McCurdy pleaded guilty to an eight-count indictment in April.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Frank M. Salter prosecuted the case. The U.S. Secret Service led the investigation.
