Student honored for fire skills

Matthew J. Jones, a Calera resident and Shelby County School of Technology student, was awarded a skill point certificate in firefighting at the National SkillsUSA Championships. Jones received the certificate for being the high scorer in the firefighting championship.

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. The organization serves more than 300,000 students and instructors annually.
