Funeral service for Hurshel Sizemore, age 86, of Calera, will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, at Northside Baptist Church with Dr. Harper Shannon, Dr. Mike Shaw and Rev. Rusty Sizemore officiating.
The body will lie in state from 10-11 a.m. Burial will follow at Shelby Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at the church.
Rev. Sizemore, who passed away on Friday, August 14, 2009, at his home, was born on December 9, 1922 in New Hope (Cullman). He served in the Army during WW II. He attended Southwestern Theological Seminary and pastored churches in Alabama, Texas, and Tennessee over a period of 35 years.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Velma Eileen Sizemore; children, Velma Jean (Bobby) Godfrey, Rev. Joe L. (Chu-Cha) Sizemore; grandchildren, Robin Acre, Rusty (Leigh) Sizemore, Beth (Ricky) Winterbottom, Renee (Buddy) Hanson, Chris Godfrey, Ragan (Jeremy) Ferruccio; 16 great grandchildren; sister, Mona (Boots) Hammock and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
