Shirley Lee

Shirley K. Lee, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009.
She is survived by her husband, Roland; her daughter, Ellen Seltz (Andrew); her son, Bryson Lee (Marby); her three granddaughters, Meghan Lee, Maizie and Emma Seltz; her sister, Mrs. Dorothy B. Wingo of Sardis, Mississippi; and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Her parents were the late Cleo and Zona Keltner.
She graduated from Birmingham Southern College in 1958 with a degree in Accounting. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha.
She was employed at The Birmingham News from 1950 until 1968, first in the Promotions and Research department, and later as the Assistant Personnel Director.
She was an avid golfer and a skilled and prolific painter.
Her paintings fill her home, and are treasured by friends and family.
A graveside service will be held at Bold Springs Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26, with visitation following.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to her favorite charities, the Presbyterian Home for Children (Talladega), or the American Diabetes Association.
