Maurices, a nation-wide clothing retailer, is launching an effort to support local shelters and the animals they help.

The retailer is hosting pet fashion shows, which will feature models from each community walking the runway with the latest fall looks from maurices, along with a pet available for adoption.

Throughout September, people are encouraged to support their local animal shelter by bringing pet supplies to their local maurices store. Customers who bring in a donation will receive a coupon for 20 percent off one regular-priced item.

Maurices has a location at the Colonial Promenade in Alabaster. The Alabaster store will host a pet runway show on Oct. 3 at Bark in the Park. For more information, call 621-1675.
