Evangel Christian defeated Taberbacle Christian in Gardendale 42-20 on Friday night.

Tabernacle took the opening kickoff the length of the field for the first score of the game. Evangel tied the game with a 25-yard touchdown pass from Jakan Sylestine to Stephen Davis. Evangel then held Tabernacle on their next possession, and Hunter Burridge scored from 7 yards out to give Evangel a 14-8 lead.

Tabernacle tied the score with 7:16 left in the first half. Jakan Sylestine made a 8-yard touchdown run to put Evangel ahead again. Tablernacle then marched down the field and scored with 0:26 left in the first half. The half ended with the Evangel leading 22-20.

Evangel brok the game open in the fourth quarter with three touchdowns. Jakan Sylestine scored on a 40-yard run, Michael Entrekin had a 3-yard touchdown run and Burridge ran it in from 45 yards for the last score of the game.
