Essie Frances (Vernon) Bailey, 61, loving wife and devoted mother and grandmother, passed away Sept. 5, 2009, at her home in Alabaster. She succumbed peacefully following a valiant battle with cancer.
Mrs. Bailey is survived by her soul-mate and best friend, husband, Donald J. Bailey; loving son, Allan Barrett and wife Vanessa; granddaughter, Alyssa and step-grandsons, Austin and Andrew; her father, Luther Vernon; brothers, Luke (Linda) Vernon and Jimmy Vernon; sisters, Rosemary (Charles) Auger, Jessie (Dale) Dunnaway, and Beth (Stanley) Burnett; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Minnie F. Vernon.
A graduate of Thompson High School, Frances developed a gift for food service by working a number of years at Dairy Queen and then became manager of the bakery at Food World where she retired after many years. She had a gift for and loved cooking and sharing her gift with others. Her quiet generosity is a legacy that will live on in the hearts of many.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday. Sept. 8, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel Montevallo with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial followed at Shelby Memory Gardens, Calera.
